RMI Risk Assessments: Social, Environmental, OHS, and Governance Training

You are invited to join us for a free essential training session hosted by the Responsible Minerals Initiative (RMI). By participating in the ESG Risk Assessment Training presented by the Responsible Minerals Initiative (RMI) in June 2025, you will acquire essential knowledge and practical skills to conduct effective Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) risk assessments aligned with the Facility Standard and Supply Chain Due Diligence Plus (SCDDP) requirements.

What You Will Learn:

  1. Understanding ESG Risk Assessment Frameworks:
    • Gain a clear understanding of the Facility Standard’s and SCDDP’s ESG risk assessment criteria, including their alignment with international standards like the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and the EU Battery Regulation.
    • Learn how these standards integrate with other Responsible Business Alliance (RBA)/RMI assurance tools, such as the Responsible Minerals Assurance Process (RMAP) and Risk Readiness Assessment (RRA), to enhance ESG management in the mineral value chain
  2. Key ESG Risk Categories:
    • Understand the comprehensive ESG risk categories for both the Facility Standard and SCDDP, covering:
      • Environmental: Pollution, water management, biodiversity, GHG emissions, and circular economy.
      • Social: Human rights, child labor, forced labor, community health, and rights of Indigenous peoples.
      • Occupational Health and Safety (OHS): Hazard identification, emergency preparedness, and sanitary working conditions.
      • Governance: Business ethics, legal compliance, and transparency.
    • Learn the differences in scope between Facility Standard (facility-focused) and SCDDP (supply chain-focused) risk categories.
  3. Risk Saliency and Prioritization:
    • Learn to prioritize ESG risks based on saliency, defined as the potential for severe negative impacts on human rights, communities, and the environment, considering:
      • Likelihood: Probability of occurrence.
      • Severity: Scale, scope, and remediation effort required.
    • Explore practical examples of saliency (e.g., prioritizing climate change or employee safety due to catastrophic potential impacts) and use risk matrices to visualize and prioritize risks.

Who Should Attend?

This training is tailored for individuals who will be undergoing, assessing or supporting the execution of ESG assessments within the Responsible Minerals Initiative (RMI) framework.

By the end of this training, you will be equipped with the tools, methodologies, and practical insights to conduct robust ESG risk assessments, prepare for assessments, mitigate risks, and drive continuous improvement in ESG performance for both facility operations and supply chains, in alignment with RMI’s Facility Standard and SCDDP.
